Flatline Studios announces Into The Grid and gathers a thousand applications for its first playtest.

About the game
Into the Grid feels like the love child of a Roguelite Deckbuilder and a Tabletop Boardgame, featuring a mix of fast-paced, action-packed card battles with deeply tactical map exploration and resource management.

The game introduces unlockable skills called Commands. These are set before battle, permit powerful combos, and are activated by spending a resource generated by playing any card. Mauro Annetta, studio co-founder and Game Director says: “This mechanic allows for creative synergies between the decks the players build and the Commands they select, while also solving the frustrating issue of dead draws.” and adds “You may not get the most optimal hand every turn, but you will always have options at your disposal”.

Another prominent feature of Into the Grid is its exploration gameplay: players must navigate procedurally generated node-based boards to reach the final goal. They'll have to plan their moves, manage resources, and use specialized tools to survive the Grid's dangerous and ever-changing digital landscape.

The game is set in a Cyberpunk universe in development since 2021. “We are developing a deep narrative universe.” says Bruno Annetta, Studio Director and co-founder, and adds: “One of the many goals of Into The Grid is to introduce players to this universe and invite them to discover it alongside us.” As a result of such a long-term commitment to quality, the game features elements rarely seen in the Deckbuilding genre such as thematic immersion through character story arcs, beautiful card art, highly detailed graphics, and an impressive first-person perspective.

First Playtest round launching on Steam
In mid-January, the Studio is releasing the first playable version of the combat section of the game for people to playtest and provide feedback. This will showcase a fraction of the full experience, and the developers think it's a great opportunity to start building along with the community before the game releases in Early Access in late 2024.
At the moment of this publication, the playtest already gathered a thousand applications. Players can still apply directly through the game's Steam Page. Additionally, the team is looking for 20 players to conduct private live playtest sessions. People interested can apply through this link.

 
About the Studio
Flatline Studios is an indie game development company founded by Argentinian brothers Bruno and Mauro Annetta who started working on the “2112 Narrative Universe” in August of 2021. The studio is formed by a multi-cultural team spread across Argentina, Spain, UK, and The Netherlands. Its main goal is to expand the 2112 IP through games and experiences that they would enjoy as consumers.
