Social Link strives to create safe and inclusive networking opportunities for new professionals from any discipline in the UK and Ireland video games industry. Membership is open to anyone who feels like it would benefit them, with a particular focus on industry newcomers, workers who struggle with networking confidence, and professionals with less than four years experience in any discipline in the industry. Launching today with a Discord server and Twitter profile, Social Link plans to provide physical networking events for members soon, including an informal morning meetup at Develop:Brighton at 11am on Wednesday 12th July.
Founded by Chairperson Anni Valkama (Super Rare Games/GameDevsNorth) in 2022, the current Social Link committee includes professional profiles from across the UK and Ireland, including: Vice-Chairperson Ollie McLoughlin (Plan of Attack); Outreach Officer Niamh McCarney (Rebellion); Social Media Manager Adam Clarke (CrimsonSky); Wellbeing Officer Rosie Taylor (Safe In Our World/GameDevsNorth); and Discord Server and Community Manager Ellie Pattinson (Prismatika Games).
